What is a Special Proof?
Before the advent of modern technology, artists would pull every tenth print from the press during printing to examine it personally for quality. These prints, handled by the artist and personally approved, came to be known as Special or "Artist's Proofs". Because of their restricted number, these proofs are sold at a higher price. Many collectors will purchase only Proof prints. Todd Burley Fine Art honors this tradition by running "Special Proofs", strictly limited to 10 pieces.

What is a Limited Edition Print?
A Limited Edition Print is an exact reproduction print of original art.  The total number of reproduction prints is fixed directly by the artist, who hand signs and sequentially numbers each one prior to sale.  Limited Edition sets are strictly limited to the fixed run, and their images will not be used on other mediums. When a Limited Edition sells out or closes, it will not be printed again.

What is a Decorator Print?
A Decorator Print is an option we have to make our art more accessible.  By not limiting the total number of runs, and allowing transfer to other mediums, we can offer some of our more popular art in very intriguing places and prices.
||TOP||

Are your works hand-signed?
Yes. The artist personally signs each of their pieces, and with Limited Sets, sequentially numbers them.  The exceptions are some of the smaller items such as Note Cards and business gifts.
||TOP||

What about color and detail of art on my monitor?
All monitors are different, making the colors slightly different.  We have done as much as possible to display the incredible detail on screen, but monitors display 72 "dots" per inch, vs. the 350 dots these prints are made from.  The color, quality, and detail you expect WILL be there - there will be no disappointment!
||TOP||

How do I determine the size of a piece?
We list the matted size of each piece on it's page.  The listed size is matted on preservation  board.
||TOP||

How long will these prints last?

We work directly with the top paper producers in the world.  Ink and paper Durability estimates are well over 100 years. Each of our prints is produced by applying 12 separate pigment inks onto rolls of the highest quality acid-free glossy or matte treated papers.  Combined with UV protection in our Museum Framing Packages, you can expect no fading and years of enjoyment.  ||TOP||

What should I know about framing?
Fine Art should always be conservation framed.  This is precisely why Todd Burley Fine Art offers this service. "Conservation" or "Museum"  framing creates a safe, protective environment which preserves the life and value of artwork. Our process focuses heavily on the materials which come in contact with the art. 100% cotton acid-free mats surround the art, acid free adhesives hold it, and foam board backs it to negate humidity.  All of this is placed under museum glass - 98% UV resistance to prevent fading.  ||TOP||

What is the difference between conservation matting and museum framing?
Conservation matting is essentially the starting point of quality displays of art.  Conservation matting includes acid-free foam backing board and 100% cotton (also acid-free) mat surrounding the artwork.  Museum framing includes a high quality frame to hold the art, and special glass from Tru Vue
® which suppresses the reflection of visible light while it blocks UV.  Museum framing is the ultimate method of keeping art investments perfect for years. ||TOP||

Do you use conservation matting techniques and materials?
Yes. We only use one type of matting for our prints - 100% cotton acid-free rag matting. This is arguably the industry's premier museum quality preservation mat board and will help ensure your print will remain undamaged by acids or other environmental contaminants. This is a much more costly solution than other matting options you may find elsewhere, but it is true conservation matting and is worth every penny if you care about the longevity of your art.  ||TOP||

Do you use UV or non-glare glass?
We only use one type of glass for our prints – Tru Vue
® museum glass. This glass is coated with material to filter out the ultra-violet light that causes fading in your matted artwork. It also suppresses the reflection of visible light, enhancing the viewing from any angle.  Again, this is a much more costly solution but it is necessary to ensure true conservation framing and is worth every penny if you care about the longevity of your art.  ||TOP||

What is ‘acid-free’?
Acid-Free paper, canvas and packing materials have been treated to neutralize its natural acidity in order to protect fine art and prints from discoloration and deterioration. It is one part of conservation or museum framing. ||TOP||
